Getting Unstuck from Feeling Stuck in your Design Business ~ Nancy Ganzekaufer, Business Coach & Body Language Trainer

It’s sad but true how all the excitement that existed when starting your own design business could soon turn into frustration! Don’t you just hate that? Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us! Entrepreneurs experience this a lot after finding out they do not feel they have the will to continue despite their initial determination to beat all the odds in starting a business. So if you feel stuck right now, remember you are not alone! It is one of the common phases you experience as a business owner.

Whether you feel stuck because of dwindling profits, losses, inefficient employees, fractious customer relationships, a heavy amount of stress, or some other personal issues, here are a few points to think about to help you get back on the road to progress:

EVERYTHING IN BUSINESS HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE

Remind yourself that those unfavorable circumstances will sooner or later come to an end!

There are times when things don’t work at all, and it feels like all of your efforts are just hitting the wall and you want to hit your head along with it. But then, every business faces its own setbacks, and you know a solution will eventually come.

We all have challenges to face, and they are the furnace you have to pass through to come out as precious gold. Most times, it requires persistence, determination, and discipline to scale through a rut, and understandably, it might take more determination to continue than it took to start, with less than one-thousandth of the excitement―but always, always remember that it could be that one crucial ingredient for a breakthrough.

So the loss you experience, the decline in your profits, or the escalating pressure you experience may actually result in better ideas of management when the opportunity comes.

AMPLIFY AND EXPAND WHAT WORKS IN YOUR BUSINESS

Ideas and activities that work may act as the motivations you need to pick yourself up and continue! If you discover that giving client incentives boosts your sales, then make stronger efforts to use this strategy. If indicators reveal that some areas are performing better than the rest, concentrate more on those areas that can be improved. Don’t reinvent the wheel, right?

Do you use a particular technique to motivate your workers to perform better? If it happens to work, then apply and experiment variations of that technique. The increase in the performance of those areas will help you grow your business and provide some inspiration that will help you emerge.

A note of warning here, however! Do not only focus on those that work for you but also view and examine other factors that are essential to your business from different perspectives.

HIRE HELP FOR THE MUNDANE TASKS IN YOUR BUSINESS

Over 80% of entrepreneurs specify stress as the main discouraging factor, and this is generally because they want to do all the work by themselves! Trying to take on all the tasks by yourself eventually leads to burnout. So, if you’re one of those people, it matters to get some help every once in a while. After all, there are numerous tasks that do not require a load of expertise, and rather than get burdened by them, employing someone to do it for you allows you to do more.

Rather than suffer from stress that you can avoid, the cost of employing someone gives you more time and opportunity to think further, expand, and create more.

FUEL YOURSELF WITH INSPIRATION

It is important to look back into what inspired you from the beginning, to not lose yourself from stress, and to reignite your passion from time to time. Continue doing the things that make you happy and forge ahead! What matters, after all, is not only the profits but that you remain happy and fulfilled doing what you love.

Being stuck isn’t the end of your business!  It is just one of the temporary phases where you can learn and grab every opportunity to achieve and live the best experiences you know you deserve.
