Letting Go Of Habits That Don’t Serve Your Entrepreneurial Journey

Sometimes drama, speculation, and hear-say take over and suck up so much time!

It happened this week in the Interior Design Industry when HOUZZ acquired IVY Mark (a project management software for Interior Designers).

As you know, my background and current coaching business is heavy in the Interior Design Industry.

I’m President of the Interior Design Society (IDS) Virtual Chapter (sign up to be a member here!) and a National Board member.  And I am a Business Coach to creative entrepreneurs, including many Interior Designers.

When these events happen, big industry changing news, I want to stay informed, just like you.

I also want to weigh in with my opinion at times, help make a positive impact, and not just be a wallflower.

The challenge is that this can take up an awfully large chunk of time and get me wrapped up in the drama, speculation, and hearsay!  All of which I absolutely HATE!

I’ve spent my entire adult life repelling other moms, co-workers, employees, family members, clients, peers, and even some friends who LOVE drama.

Because drama creates more drama, just like frenzy creates more frenzy, violence creates more violence, etc etc.

I am overly simplifying my point of view here but let me just say this.

Ask yourself the following questions when Industry News threatens to affect you or your clients:

  1. Who do I trust to get my updates and news from?
  2. What did I learn from the FACTS?
  3. What can I do to positively contribute to the conversation, my industry, and my clients?
  4. How can I adapt and maintain my own success and the integrity of my clients in light of the news?

A wait and see approach, rather than taking action prematurely can serve you well.

I suggest… stay informed from reliable sources, watching carefully, and then making decisions based on facts when the time is right.

It’s a solid plan, right?
