How much of your day do you spend actively working on growing your business and revenue generating activities?

I ask this question because I know that in this day and age, it is so easy to get distracted by all the information coming at you. It comes from the internet, from your peers, from this, from that – and some days, if you’re anything like me, it’s hard to focus.

Time management is simple in concept, but difficult in execution.

But time management is crucial to building a successful and profitable business.

Do you find that you start your day out with a set process, or with disarray?

Here is what I want you to know:  Starting your day with a set process will ensure the rest of your day flows successfully.

For example…

  • I start my day thinking about 3 people who need my thoughts and prayers that day
  • I force myself to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes every morning as a routine
  • I drink one whole glass of water & eat a healthy breakfast
  • I connect via phone with one of my sisters
  • Shower & get dressed

And so then, when my employee’s arrive, my mindset is in the right place. Do you understand what I mean?

What is your morning process? Do you have one?

The reason I ask this is because studies show that willpower is strongest in the morning.

After you’ve done your morning routine, I suggest you make your “first work of the day something meaningful and significant, a task that might take a lot of focus, will, and determination to accomplish. The reason: We’re limited with our self-control.”

So how do start your mornings now? Do you wake up later than you’d like, maybe linger with starting a task you’ve been putting off for days?

Well, stop that!  If you want to build a successful business, you have to control your own destiny. If you can’t change your habits and you waste time, the bottom line is: You will never make it where you want to go.

Personally, I make lists to help with time management.   I list out every step of a difficult task so that I break it down into tiny, manageable pieces. And this way, instead of only getting gratification of checking something off at the very, verrrry end of a large task, I can get the satisfaction of checking things off along the way.

This is a little mind trick I use on myself to help trick my mind, get things done, and to help with time management.

Another little trick I use and that I teach my clients to use is the Pomodoro Technique.  I learned this technique from a book of the same title: The Pomodoro Technique.  I highly recommend this easy read which outlines the process to choose a task to be accomplished, set a timer for 25 minutes, work on the task with complete focus, when the time is up, take a short break.

The 25-Minute Trick is a simple but powerful technique. Put away your phone, put away your music, turn off the TV, and for 25 minutes ONLY, GET SHIT DONE.

Anyone, anywhere can focus on productivity for 25 minutes.

Think about it. If you know you have 8 hours to write the blog post, or post on social media, or send that email…. Are you really motivated?

The 25-Minute Trick cuts down on the B.S.

I teach my clients to commit to five 25-minute sessions a day. The amount of productivity SKYROCKETS.  And that’s only an hour an a half a day.
